Seniors – you are in 1^st place with spirit point!  HOWEVER, sophomores are a CLOSE 2^nd.  Juniors are 3^rd and Freshmen are 4^th.

This is the last week to get spirit points – the spirit trophy will be given out at Sports Night – stay spirited Affton.

 NHS would like to thank all the students and staff who donated blood last Monday.  We were able to give St. John’s 69 pints.  Members, don’t forget there is a meeting tomorrow at 7am in the South Assembly Hall.

 BOYS AND GIRLS – Our new water polo team that is starting up this week still needs more players.  Stop by the pool TODAY from 2:45-4:45 to see if you are interested in joining!

 Winter athletes – TODAY is the LAST DAY to purchase your Winter Sports Banquet tickets.  Remember, athletes are free but you still must pick up a ticket in the office TODAY.  Family and friends are $8 a person. 

 All Freshman and JV boys basketball players must turn in all uniforms, bags, warm-up shirts and pants TODAY after school in the weight room.  All uniforms should be cleaned and folded properly.

 If you see Seniors Mallory Pappert or Justin Nixon be sure to congratulate them!  Mallory signed with St. Louis Community College at Meramec to play softball and Justin signed with Missouri Valley College to play football.

 JV soccer tryouts will begin today in the upper gym at 2:50.  Varsity soccer tryouts will begin today at Rogers at 3:15.

 Affton is holding our annual Blood Drive on Monday, March 4^th.  You must be 16 or older to give blood.  If you received a permission slip to donate blood, please fill it out, have a parent sign it and return it to the blood drive table at lunch.

 Any DECA students who qualified for the State Career Development Conference, there will be a MANDATORY meeting immediately after school TODAY. 

 The Affton Film Club will meet after school today at 2:30 in room 16 to view “Badlands”.  All staff and students are welcome.  Ask Mr. Walker or Mr. Esselman for details.

 St. Louis Community College will host an A+ event TONIGHT at 6pm in the theatre at the Meramec campus. 

 ATHLETES – if you still need a physical for SPRING Sports tryouts that begin NEXT MONDAY or just want to have your paperwork in early for the FALL season, come to the office TONIGHT at 6:00pm and get a physical from one of our doctors right here in the OFFICE!

 Movie night for TONIGHT is CANCELLED!

 Listen up FRESHMAN, SOPHOMORES, JUNIORS AND SENIORS – TODAY TODAY TODAY is the very LAST day to order a sports night t-shirt.  If we do not have your size and money TODAY, we will NOT order a shirt for you.  See your class sponsor or class officer TODAY!  Juniors – pay Coach Boehm in the GYM.

 During 4^th hour today, Optimum X will be handing out Valentines Day gifts.

 Congratulations to Paige Smith. Last night Paige was honored by UMSL and received the Distinguished Student Award for Excellence in Science.

 Our cheerleaders will be hosting a dine-in fundraiser at the Watson Rd. Applebees TONIGHT. 

 If you had perfect attendance in January, you will have a chance to spin the big wheel for prizes during lunch TOMORROW!

 Join us this FRIDAY in the Auditorium at 7pm for a special showing of Aladdin.  Cost of admission is $5 or five can goods.  Pizza, chips and soda will be available for purchase.

 Classes tiring you out?  Need a little pep in your step?  Well Dominence Corp will be selling lemonade at “The Main Squeeze” booth during lunches Wednesday.  Lemonade is $1 and snow cones $1.50.  If you buy from the girls, you also get a dessert!  So don’t forget YOLO:  you only lemon once!

 Reminder to seniors who DID NOT have their picture taken at Prestige…the Senior Quick Shoot is this morning in the Commons.  Please come down at the time written on your pass OR when it is convienent for your teacher.  If you have misplaced your pass, your teacher has a list of the times for each student.

 TREND members – reminder for those that signed up for the dinner/auction – meet at 6:30 tonight in the front parking lot.  Don’t be late and WEAR NICE CLOTHES!

 Hey, Affton it’s the time of year to be thinking of others so the cheerleaders have teamed up with the boys’ basketball players to collect money at lunches through next Tuesday for the Siteman Breast Cancer center!  Please be generous.  We’ve collected $114.58 so far!

 The first boys basketball home game will be next Tuesday night.  Students -if you bring in TWO cans of food, you will be admitted FREE!  Adults will be admitted free with three cans of food.  Food will be donated to the Elks Lodge for needy people in our community during the holidays.  If you do not bring cans, students admission is $2, adults $3, and proceeds from that game go to cancer research.  It is going to be a “pink out” so be sure to wear PINK to the game.

 DECA FBLA members – Auntie Anne’s pretzel sales are due no later than next Tuesday.  Turn in forms and money to Mr. Hildebrand.  Help support our members!  They are also still selling footballs for $1 to benefit MDA.

 Student Council will be collecting money during lunches this week during the “Penny Wars” to be donated to a charity to be named later.  The class with the highest points at the end of the week gets donuts during seminar!

 Tickets for the student/faculty Volleyball game that will take place Tuesday during seminar will be sold at lunches Monday and at the beginning of seminar Tuesday.  Tickets are $1 and each student must have a ticket to leave seminar and attend the games.

 All VARSITY Baseball players, there is a meeting in Coach Uthoff’s room on Monday immediately after school.  Be there!

 Hey, Affton it’s the time of year to be thinking of others so the cheerleaders have teamed up with the boys’ basketball players to collect money at lunches until next Tuesday for the Siteman Breast Cancer center!  Please be generous.  We collected $58.38 yesterday.  Thank you!

 TREND week continues today…The Red Ribbon Campaign was started when drug traffickers in Mexico City murdered DEA agent Kiki Camarena in 1985.  This began the continuing tradition of displaying Red Ribbons as a symbol of intolerance towards the use of drugs.  The mission of the Red Ribbon Campaign is to present a unified and visible commitment towards the creation of a DRUG-FREE AMERICA.  Let’s end our Red Ribbon Week tomorrow with everyone wearing red!

 As we kick off Red Ribbon Week, take a minute to ask yourself this question, do I have a drug free life?  Please help TREND celebrate Red Ribbon week by wearing red all this week.

 Come out for food, fellowship and fun TONIGHT at 7:00pm.  FCA will meet at Madeline Mullin’s house.

 TREND members – Drop off candy for Trick or Treat Street in room 44. It will count as service hours.

 Any girl interested in becoming a Winter Cheerleader this year should stop by room 30 to sign up and pick up the necessary paperwork.  Clinics and tryouts will be held October 29-31 in the Commons.

 Fall is in the air and that means just one thing….Powder Puff football!  And this year we will be having MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL on November 5^th at 6:30 pm.  Girls if you want to play and boys if you want to be a cheerleader or coach– you must sign up by this Wednesday at the VSC counter during lunch! 

Shirts are $15 and that includes your school appropriate personalized name of up to 10 letters.  YOU MUST HAVE YOUR MONEY TO SIGN UP FOR A SHIRT.

 Now’s your chance to help a furry friend from the Humane Society of Missouri Stray Rescue Open Door Animal Sanctuary.  Please donate items from the wish list posted around school.  Additional information is posted on the school website.  The donation box is located right inside the office.  Some of the items needed are canned animal food, treats, animal toys, leashes and collars and food and water bowls.  Money donations are also acceptable thru November 2.  This is a District 1 Pet Project associated with Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri.  If you have any questions, see Abby Hill, Courtney Kroeger or Alayna Chapie.

 It’s not too late to buy a ticket to the Homecoming dance this Saturday!  Tickets will be sold during lunches for $10.  They will also be sold at the door Saturday night for $15.  Doors open at 7:00, the dance is 7:30-11.

 And don’t forget to come up here for the big game tomorrow night!  Come cheer the Cougars on to victory over the Jennings Warriors.  Tickets are only $2 for students and we want to see everyone there!

 SENIORS-The deadline for applications for the expense-paid, overnight Affton Education Foundation college visit trips is next Wednesday. 

 A+ students – tutors are needed Monday through Thursday at Mesnier and Gotsch after school.  Sign up with Mrs. Allen in the A+ office.

 The first Key Club meeting of the year will be held next Thursday after school in room 33.  Key Club is an international service club.  Dues for this year are $10, which includes a t-shirt!  See Mrs. Allen or Mr. Mesplay if you have any questions.

 Good morning Affton!

 Back by popular demand – the first Gus’s pretzel sale of the year will be tomorrow during lunches!  Remember to bring your change!

 This is a personal invitation for all Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors to come to the gym during seminar to see what Varsity Sports Club is all about!  If you have other clubs that you are participating in and still want to be a part of VSC, that’s cool, just stop by Ms. Loris’ room #30, to pick up an agenda!  Freshman –we hope to meet you after school at the ice cream social.

 Mathletes will have their first meeting of the year during seminar today in the commons.  We will be voting on officers and T-shirt designs.

 Good morning Affton!

 If you should happen to LOSE any of your belongings this year – don’t forget to check our Lost and Found box in the office to see if it has been FOUND.

 Students should not be walking in the halls before 7:20 am.  When you arrive to school in the morning, please have your parents drop you off in the Commons circle where buses drop everyone else off.  You must remain in the cafeteria until the 7:20 bell rings.

 If you are staying after school and ride the 3:45 activity bus, please go to the cafeteria when your activity is finished and stay there.  If you do not have an activity to attend, DO NOT stay after school.  Walking around in the hallways after school is not allowed.

 Please check the Student Fine List hanging outside the attendance window.  Get your fines paid now before you are unable to participate in school activities for this year!

 Rogers has been selected as a finalist for a national Fuel Up to Play 60 “Student Challenge”award and the winner is decided based on voting!  Please help us by going to the Fuel Up to Play 60 website and click on the red ‘student–vote button’.  Please vote from ALL of your technological devices every day thru Monday.

 Today is the deadline for registration for the September 8 ACT Test – the first ACT of this school year.  Students registering for ACT tests after September 8 will be required to upload a photo of themselves when they register.  Also, students must bring an ACT ticket & a government-issued ID with them to take the ACt.

 Seniors, please note that Mizzou now requires ACT scores directly from ACT.  Make sure to include Mizzou’s code # (2516) on your registration.

 Also, student-athletes, make sure you register to have ACT scores sent to the NCAA (#9999) & NAIA (#9876)
